Montreux Jazz Heritage Lab

In 2010 Claude Nobs, founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, commissioned the EPFL to digitalize the entire footage filmed at the festival dating back to the year 1967. Along came the idea to construct a mobile installation with the purpose of viewing this archival footage.

An immersive space was conceived to provide a unique and authentic experience of reliving the performances. A 1:1 scale prototype was produced to investigate first hand the acoustic and spatial configuration of this time machine.
