The Villa Vela is a two-story house on the lake of Murten. Simplicity was the supreme design rule. The house is comprised of a single rectangular body that is sliced in half by a single diagonal wall, which distinctly separates the public and private. The seemingly floating C-shaped top floor revels in the superb lake view and natural surroundings, absorbed by the glass windows that shape three sides of the house. And while the solid upper stands in equilibrium, the bottom floor is set back allowing the concrete wall to pierce through to the outside and thereby enhancing the play of balance.
