The Villa Vela is a two-story house on the lake of Murten. Simplicity was the supreme design rule. The house is comprised of a single rectangular body that is sliced in half by a single diagonal wall, which distinctly separates the public and private.

The seemingly floating C-shaped top floor revels in the superb lake view and natural surroundings, absorbed by the glass windows that shape three sides of the house. And while the solid upper stands in equilibrium, the bottom floor is set back allowing the concrete wall to pierce through to the outside and thereby enhancing the play of balance.

This was a commission to conceive a structure for the inaugural exhibition at the contemporary Art Gallery Espace TILT. Inspired by the German philosopher Peter Sloterdijk we tackled the concept of relationship amongst humans and how a given spatial configuration can be informed.

The sphere is a non-choice and as a platonic solid it allows the viewer to appropriate it and above all engage an authentic relationship. In the image of the mother’s womb, the main characteristic is an emerging space that allows no reference point, thus empowering the body to become the only reference.

Without a doubt, Geneva’s most lustrous and upscale street is the Rue du Rhône. From superior pearls to prestigious watches, the Rue du Rhône reigns as the most popular place to shop for jewelry. Yet, with so many jewelers at hand, the street can seem quite daunting for a first time shopper. Consequently, a perfect window display and excellent presentation become key marketing tools for successful sales.

This project focuses on creating an architectural jewel, which will promise to catch the eye of passersby with its exceptional glow. Thinly cut translucent onyx stone is used to illuminate the shop both from the inside out and the outside in. In addition to the exterior remodel, the interior is completely refurbished to allow maximum comfort for viewing and examining jewels.

Set on the hillside of Lausanne, this residential building reacts to its context with an innovative form. Inspired by the duality of the amethyst gemstone, the building’s two textural faces mimic the contrast of texture and composition.

The precious inner stone is represented through the building’s gleaming glass panes and polished metal paneling, which allows for the public spaces to glimmer in sunlight. The amethyst’s mineral crust is represented by a coarse textured wall that protects the private spaces and allows for a dichotomy of space and plan. The resulting shape is an irregular polygon that holds within itself an elegant convergence of two elemental forms.

Imagine an underground metro in Switzerland that travels up to five hundred kilometers per hour, connecting cities in nearly twelve minutes; Geneva-Lausanne 12 minutes, Geneva-Berne 24 minutes, Geneva-Zurich 36 minutes! These are the objectives for the audacious SwissMetro. As the main node of the Swiss network, Zurich is the main focus of the project

The generator of the project is the Swissmetro station, found at 50 metres below city level, and a public plaza is created at 35 meters below ground. From this level both the city above and the metro platform below are in direction visual interaction. The lower plaza is subsequently covered by a soccer stadium and held together by the means of three exoskeleton towers that act as pillars and converging point for the ensemble of the architectural brief. Peter is an architecture. Peter is a super-structural composite. Peter is a territorial quest. Peter is a hyper-composite body.

Montreux Jazz Heritage Lab

In 2010 Claude Nobs, founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, commissioned the EPFL to digitalize the entire footage filmed at the festival dating back to the year 1967. Along came the idea to construct a mobile installation with the purpose of viewing this archival footage.
