Rénovation complète d’un appartement au cœur des Eaux-Vives, Genève.

Situé au cœur du quartier des Eaux-Vives à Genève, cet appartement a fait l’objet d’une rénovation complète visant à révéler tout le potentiel de ses espaces et à les adapter aux modes de vie contemporains.

Le projet a débuté par une mise à nu intégrale de l’existant afin de repenser entièrement l’organisation intérieure. La transformation majeure consiste en l’ouverture de la cuisine sur le séjour, créant un espace de vie fluide, lumineux et convivial. Cette nouvelle configuration favorise les échanges tout en renforçant la sensation d’espace et la continuité entre les différentes fonctions de l’habitat.

Chaque intervention a été guidée par la recherche d’un équilibre entre fonctionnalité, simplicité et qualité spatiale. Le chêne naturel agit comme un fil conducteur reliant les différents espaces et contribuant à une lecture harmonieuse de l’appartement. Le résultat est un intérieur contemporain, lumineux et serein, dont l’esthétique sobre et durable est pensée pour traverser les années sans perdre de sa pertinence.

Le projet a également bénéficié d’une gestion efficace des démarches administratives, avec l’obtention de l’autorisation de construire en seulement 21 jours, permettant une mise en œuvre rapide de cette transformation complète.

L’aménagement intérieur s’articule autour d’une palette de matériaux et de teintes sobres, sélectionnés pour leur caractère intemporel. Les lignes épurées, les détails soigneusement dessinés et les matières chaleureuses composent une atmosphère à la fois minimaliste et accueillante. Une attention particulière a été portée au traitement des embrasures et des cadres de fenêtres, peints en blanc afin de mettre en valeur les éléments en chêne qui ponctuent l’appartement. Ce dialogue entre les surfaces claires et le bois apporte chaleur, élégance et cohérence à l’ensemble du projet, renforçant son identité douce et intemporelle.

Set on the hillside of Lausanne, this residential building reacts to its context with an innovative form. Inspired by the duality of the amethyst gemstone, the building’s two textural faces mimic the contrast of texture and composition.

The precious inner stone is represented through the building’s gleaming glass panes and polished metal paneling, which allows for the public spaces to glimmer in sunlight. The amethyst’s mineral crust is represented by a coarse textured wall that protects the private spaces and allows for a dichotomy of space and plan. The resulting shape is an irregular polygon that holds within itself an elegant convergence of two elemental forms.

As the city expands the boundaries are challenged. Residential areas shift scale and adaptation is required. This residential project is situated at the boundary between the rural countryside and city of Geneva.

The residential block that is in the realm of the city is subjected to a careful composition with the elements that constitute the facade. The result is a united body that can effortlessly be customisable and appropriated by the various owners.

While the South facade follows the alignment of the allotment gardens, the North facade is multiplied to match the game of the North garden, highlighting its role of continuity of biodiversity and its wild and natural character with the valley and the different areas games.

In addition to the North and South gardens, communal spaces are multiplying on the terraces. These act as social condenser, allowing the inhabitants to exploit, not only the surroundings of the buildings, but also to enjoy a breathtaking view. A height game on the different levels creates a succession of private terraces, collective or photovoltaic panels, punctuating the community life between the inhabitants and creating an intriguing volumetric game that is softened by the vegetation of the roofs. The wood cladding treatment of the facades seeks to reproduce the warm look of the materials while promoting a residential and resolutely urban image. In this project, neighbors meet each other, feast and live together, while keeping the necessary privacy of housing.

Scarcity of housing is of major concern in Geneva. This project proposes an answer to this dilemma by injecting 50’583 m² of both housing and public space. The brief for this hybrid complex includes a metro-station, mall, sports facilities, residences, kindergarten, nursing home and more.

Set to become Geneva’s new eastern gate looking unto France, it will gain notoriety as an essential urban node. As the image of a densified city, the first set of residences is shaped as the iconic Swiss pitched roof house. Although reminiscent of the countryside, they simultaneously become structural entities, becoming a hollow column to bear the residences above.
