Varvakios
The Varvakios Room proposes a solution to a decaying Greek plaza that is currently overrun by drug abuse. By descending the level of the run down plaza and connecting it to the bustling public market, we propose a new public space that is unified by an integrated canopy cover. The plaza construction includes public conference halls on the east and several safe drug consumption facilities on the west.
Institutionalisation of the drug abuse that is present in the community will aim to decrease the contamination of the plaza and aid in a clean and safe public dwelling. This intends to be a collective project that will act as an urban generator for local and neighbouring communities.
