Comprehensive Renovation and Transformation of a Listed Heritage Workshop in Geneva
Located in the heart of Geneva, within a private courtyard sheltered from the surrounding urban environment, this listed heritage building underwent a complete renovation and transformation designed to preserve its historical character while adapting it to contemporary needs.
Originally used as a workshop and storage facility, the two-storey building presented a unique opportunity for rehabilitation. The project involved a comprehensive reorganisation of the interior spaces, allowing the property to accommodate a new programme while retaining the architectural qualities and industrial character that define its identity.
In parallel with the architectural transformation, a full energy retrofit was carried out to significantly improve the building's environmental performance. The intervention included the upgrading of the building envelope, the optimisation of technical systems, and the implementation of energy-efficient solutions aimed at reducing overall consumption while respecting the constraints associated with a protected heritage structure.
Particular care was taken to preserve original architectural elements and construction details, ensuring that the renovation remained faithful to the building's historical significance. The project required a careful balance between heritage conservation, technical performance, and contemporary comfort standards.
Through a tailored and collaborative approach, this transformation has successfully revitalised a historic workshop, extending its lifespan and enhancing its functionality while safeguarding its cultural and architectural value. This project reflects our expertise in heritage building rehabilitation, adaptive reuse, energy-efficient renovation, and the transformation of historic industrial and workshop buildings in Geneva.
