Extension and Full Energy Renovation of a Villa in Chêne-Bougeries
Located in the residential municipality of Chêne-Bougeries, this project involves the extension and complete energy renovation of an existing villa. The intervention aims to enhance the building’s energy performance, comfort, and spatial quality while preserving the architectural identity of the original house.
Conceived as a coherent transformation rather than a simple addition, the project is based on a careful dialogue between the existing structure and the new extension. This approach ensures architectural continuity and long-term relevance. The ambition is to create a timeless residential ensemble, where contemporary interventions complement and enhance the character of the existing villa.
A Subtle Dialogue Between Old and New
At the core of the project lies the marriage between the original building and the new extension. Particular attention was given to proportions, materials, and architectural language in order to achieve a harmonious integration between the different elements.
The extension subtly reinterprets the characteristics of the original villa while introducing contemporary spatial qualities, notably through more generous openings and a strengthened relationship between interior and exterior spaces. This approach allows the house to evolve while retaining its architectural identity.

A Timeless Residential Transformation
By balancing respect for the existing structure, contemporary architectural intervention, and improved energy performance, the project results in a renewed villa that meets today’s living standards while remaining faithful to its original character.
This intervention in Chêne-Bougeries demonstrates how an extension combined with a comprehensive energy renovation can transform an existing home into a durable, coherent, and timeless living environment, designed to endure over time.
A Comprehensive Energy Upgrade
One of the main objectives of the project was the complete energetical efficiency upgrade of the villa, bringing it in line with contemporary standards of sustainability and efficiency. Meeting the “Très Haute Performance Énergétique" standard (THPE).
The intervention includes improvements to the building envelope, enhanced insulation, and the optimization of technical systems.
These measures significantly reduce energy consumption while improving thermal comfort and the overall quality of living for the residents.
